Reserves strengthened for UQ clash
The Western Magpies Reserves welcome back consistent defender Gabe McKinnon, small forward Jake Fuentes and utility Hunter Heath for their clash with UQ on Saturday.
The Pies went oh so close to their first victory last week when down by 2 points in a seesawing tussle with Sandgate.
The team is still a young team and typical of young teams concentration lapses do occur and these have proved costly for the Pies in recent matches.
The Pies do lose Brodie Easton the first grade and he has been a consistent performer this season.
The experienced Matt Hockley has been in good form up forward and with Fuentes beside him in a pocket the Magpies will have some forward options.
McKinnon has a wealth of first grade experience and will add some spine to the backline and the versatile Ben Hooper is getting better each week as he nears full fitness after an interrupted start to the season.
The improvement of youngsters Nathan Morrow, Grant Jennings and Matt Mazarolle and the return of Alex Spazovski also bodes well for the Pies as they head toward the latter half of the season
The Pies need to be positive in this match as UQ have also been an inconsistent team this year and the 4 points are certainly up for grabs.
