CFMG Capital - Colts Awards
Versatile key position player, Jackson Paynter has just pipped classy defender/midfielder Darcy Prest by just 1 vote to claim the 2019 Maurie McNamee Medal for Colts Best & Fairest named in honour of a man who is considered one of the fathers of the Sherwood Footy Club.
In an incredibly tight count, Lawson Campbell was just 1 vote back in 3rd place after a great year playing in defence and he came home late to nearly claim the medal.
Paynter polled 37 votes, with Prest on 36 and Campbell on 35. All of them have big futures, with Jackon a very strong mark, a good leap and toughness and intensity around the ball. Prest was unlucky not to make his senior debut, and also represented the QLD in both U18 and U17 football. Both Prest and Paynter will be pushing for early season Senior debuts in 2020.
Campbell, is a tough uncompromising defender and also won the Best in Finals award to underline he is made of the right stuff.
Whitlam Bishop was Most Consistent after another fine season playing in defence, Darcy Prest also won Best Team Player while Oscar Murphy was a worth winner of the Coaches Award despite being in and out of the side, he always trained hard, gave his all and did any job asked of him on match day.
The leading Goalkicker was mid sized forward Cooper Crowell who had a fine season in front of the big sticks.
