Harvey Norman - Reserves Round 2 Preview

RESERVES NEED TO LIFT FOR TOUGH CLASH

Sherwood Reserves will be keen to have a better showing this week for their Round 2 clash with as strong Palm Beach-Currumbin at Currumbin on Saturday.

The Pies selectors made 6 changes to the side with Jayden Gallagher and Jack Austin promoted to the Senior side, Lachie Dennis injured Rohan and Daniel Smith unavailable. Alex Davilia was also unlucky to be omitted after this first game back in some time, but with Juffs-King coming back from the Seniors and with shortened games it is tough to take 2 ruckman into any side.

Tristan Juffs-King comes into to the ruck from a strong showing in the seniors last week and youngsters in Jacob Aurisch, Whitlam Bishop, Jack Briskey and Hamish Campbell are promoted. Briskey is an exciting young talent and he has filled out this year and will be keen to impress and push for senior selection. Chris Davis comes in for his Reserves debut after close to 100 games with the Woodsmen, to play in a competition he managed for 5 seasons in his role at AFL Queensland!

The Pies, while fit, looked short of a gallop last week with regards to playing as a team with poor execution and decision making at times. With a game under their belt, coach Cory Hopkins will be looking for a more polished performance from his team. It will be no easy task for his team at Currumbin as the Lions have been very strong in Reserves over recent seasons and had a good win last week. If the Magpies bring their best football then they are more than capable of winning and getting their season back on track.
