The Sherwood Magpies AFC is a club that aspires to create an environment that nurtures & teaches young aspiring participants to play Australian Football & have done so for in excess of 60 years in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane.

Drawing players from the Sherwood Magpies Junior and Youth football programs, as well as surrounding local junior clubs the QAFL Colts are an integral part of our player pathway and form part of the Sherwood Magpies Senior Football Program.

The Colts enjoy a full pre-season program with the QAFL Mens Senior team with an extensive network of highly qualified and experienced football coaches managing the development of their game. Purely related to football, there are specialist line coaches (midfield, defence, forward and ruck) as well as exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, strength & conditioning coaches, a club doctor as well as a club appointed welfare officer.

At the completion of pre-season training, the Colts remain part of the Senior Football Program, training on Tuesday and Thursday immediately prior to the Senior squad and sometimes also working with our u17 Division 1 Squad to ensure connection between senior and youth football.

In 2025 the Colts will be coached by Damian Haber, who was an assistant coach to Ben Jaenke-Cain in 2024 and u17 Div 1 Coach in 2023, establishing a connection with the playing group and the existing successful program.

Sherwood have had 3 players drafted to the AFL via their QAFL Colts program in the most recent 5 years and, 18 players have gone on to play NEAFL or VFL football and 42 have played QAFL Senior football after progressing through the current Colts Program in the most recent 5 year period.
