The Western Magpies Reserves are on the receiving end of a long injury list in the club and will go into their final match against top side Morningside with an understrength team.
While the Pies were well beaten on the scoreboard last match it was only one poor quarter that brought them undone.
With a young and inexperienced team lapses in concentration are bound to happen and it won’t get any easier on Saturday.
The Pies do have senior player in Brady Allen in the side which should give them a lift. Also in are Sean McEvoy, and Luke de Nys, Jesse Pukullus, James Nightingale and Todd Billing all for their first games this year
Out are skipper Gabe McKinnon, young forward Jeremy deRooy and half back Matt Mazarolle all to the Seniors, ruckman Geoff Gibb with a hand injury, half forward Rory Johnson (knee) and Tom Cooper and Reid Dobson.
Stand-in skipper Bryce Crossley has had a consistent season and will be keen to finish off in style after what has been a long and somewhat disappointing season for the Reserves.
The on-ball brigade of Josh Uebergang, Sean Mewing and Josh White will need to work hard for the Pies to get first use of the football. Uebergang has been a good find for the Pies in his first year of footy and has worked hard in every game, while White has also had a consistent season.
McEvoy is looking forward to a game at last after a long period out with a back injury and a move forward will please him.
The Pies have a tough task in front of them and coach Craig Allen will ask his charges for one last effort to try to finish the season off on a positive note.
