PIES RESERVES ON LIFE SUPPORT AFTER LOSS
The Western Magpies Reserves are on life support after a 34 point loss to Labrador on Saturday. The Pies started brightly enough but were outplayed in the second and third quarters and try as they might in the last quarter could not narrow the gap. The Pies were defeated 14.11-95 to 9.7-61.
The Magpies were not as strong as in recent matches with injury and unavailability in both First and Reserves stretching their playing list. Three Colts players made their debuts and all played well, with Zane Lovell named in the best players.
Gerard Moore rucked well to be the Pies best player and Sam Hartog and Harry Marshall both worked hard in defence to keep the Pies in range.
Sean Mewing also had plenty of the ball on a wing and Brodie Easton was a good player in midfield.
The Pies have must win match against Morningside on Saturday--a loss ends their season but a win keeps them in the finals race.
