MAGPIES WELCOME BOON TO THE BERG

The Magpies are excited to confirm the appointment of Adam Boon to the QAFL coaching panel in 2023. A highly respected and experienced coach, Boon is a Level 3 Qualified High Performance Coach and holds a Bachelor of Secondary Education and currently works as a secondary school PE Teacher. In addition, he holds qualifications in Mental First Aid was previously head of AFL Excellence Program at Park Ridge State High School, including winning 2 x State Championships in 2014 and 2017.
Boon has also had extensive experience in elite football as a player and coach, making his senior QAFL debut in 2007 as a 16 year old and going on to play over 150 games at QAFL/NEAFL level before turning his attention to coaching where he has held the position of QAFL Senior Coach for 3 seasons at Mt Gravatt, and Senior Assistant Coach at Redland. In addition he has strong experience in youth pathways having been a Brisbane Lions Academy Coach and coaching Metropolitan West school sport teams for the past 8 years, giving him a strong connection to the extensive youth talent at Sherwood and further enhancing the robust connection right throughout the Magpies youth development into th QAFL program.
As both a highly qualified coach and full-time school teacher, Boon is uniquely qualified to boost and support the educational coaching style at the Magpies. Highly collaborative, he aims to create a supportive and productive learning environment to allow players/students to challenge their own thinking and develop higher order decision making skills.
Combining 150+ playing experience at NEAFL/QAFL level, including holding leadership positions in state squads and extensive coaching experience, Boon is an ideal candidate to join the Magpies rejuvenated coaching panel in 2023.
